Have you always wanted to discover what you can do (more) with your voice? Want to practice some opera works while on holiday in a beautiful place? Then this Opera Singing Holiday is really something for you!

Enjoy and bring your voice to life

You will receive lessons from experienced vocal coach Astrid Vrensen, who will help you gain confidence in both the use of your voice and in your presentation.

At the end of this singing holiday you will sing without hesitation a number of wonderful works from the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet.

There is plenty of time to immerse yourself in the swimming pool of Château du Pommoy

The program

Day 1:

Travel day. You travel on your own* to Roussillon-en-Morvan, where in the evening you will meet the other students and singing teacher Astrid while enjoying a delicious aperitif and dinner.

Day 2 to 6:

Coaching during the day between 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM from dramatic soprano and master in Opera Astrid Vrensen.

The lessons consist of:

Relaxation and activation exercises, warming up the voices, singing lessons, practicing notes with the pianist, pronunciation, interpretation and singing together. Of course there is coffee/tea and a long lunch break in between.

Every day there is plenty of time to relax in and around the house, let the course sink in or explore the area further. And we enjoy meals prepared with attention!

Day 7: Travel day. After an extensive breakfast buffet, it is time to start the return journey.

Lessons from a professional singing teacher

Astrid Vrensen graduated cum laude in Solo Singing from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in the Opera class. She studied and took master classes with Christina Deutekom, Dame Joan Sutherland, Roberta Alexander and Elly Ameling, among others.

She participated in several productions at home and abroad, including:

Combattimento Consort, De Hoofdstad Operette, the Flemish Opera, Opera Spanga, and the Utrecht Early Music Festival. She recently toured the Netherlands with an original, beautiful rendition of Schubert's Winterreise, together with Mylou Frencken, known from the television program 'With the knife on the table'.

Astrid Vrensen says about this singing holiday:

"I regularly perform with various singing companies and have been active as a singing teacher and vocal coach for years.

This singing holiday is for everyone who wants to get more out of their voice. Whether you have been taking individual singing lessons for years and would like to sing more together, or you sing in a choir and would like to practice singing parts with more confidence.

I look forward to rehearsing some beautiful musical works with the participants. I selected these because they are accessible and interesting for beginners and advanced singers.

Of course we will not only practice and sing, we also pay attention to stage presentation and relaxation is part of our program.

We'll end the week with a small presentation at Château du Pommoy”

Course level

This opera singing holiday is suitable for anyone who loves singing and has some musical ear. Being able to read music well is useful, but not necessary. It is a relaxing, musical singing holiday.

Stay for six nights at Château du Pommoy, in the middle of the Le Morvan regional nature park in Burgundian France
All meals on site (buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Château du Pommoy:

peace, nature and culture

A stately, white building emerges from the green landscape of the French Morvan. You will find the comfortably furnished château in the middle of nature. Enjoy your large room or suite with an excellent bed and private bathroom, read a good book in the large lounge, stroll through the garden, play the piano or take a refreshing dip in the pool.

You can take beautiful walking and cycling trips directly from the château. There is a lot to see in the immediate area, but you can also make countless excursions by car. For example, visit the Gallo-Roman settlement of Bibracte on Mont Beuvray (in good weather you can see the Mont Blanc massif!). The pleasant city of Autun with its cathedral, museums, Roman theater and many terraces is just a 20-minute drive away.

Price € 995 pp per participant in a shared large private room with private bathroom

€ 695 accompanying partner without course (can only be booked together with a participant)

You can also participate without staying at Château du Pommoy. In that case you pay €375 pp. Only the course, lunches, drinks in between and the meal on the last evening (Friday September 6) are included.
